Effective Communication
Miscommunication costs time and money, and adversely affects productivity and business relationships. Clarity of expression is a skill that can be learned. This course provides the good practices which enable effective communication in a wide range of situations.
Aim: Improve efficiency of communication
On completion participants will be able to:
- Identify their own communication style
- Synopsise & contrast main communication styles
- Simplify and clarify communication of instruct- tions, questions, explanations, reprimand/praise
- Keep their ‘Train of Thought’ ® and contextualise
- Differentiate strategies for face-to-face, telephone and written communication
- Identify root causes of miscommunication
- Efficiently seek clarification
- Evaluate importance of delivery & tone of voice
- Use body language, expressions, gestures and eye contact clearly and effectively
- Recognise regional and cultural differences in communication style
- Communicate in charged or emotional situations
- Give a clear synopsis or feedback
- Carry out appropriate comprehension checks

A Public Information Presentation entitled ‘Making a Will won’t kill you’ is to take place in Beara, County Cork at Eyeries National School at 7.30pm on Tuesday 23 February 2016. Hosted by Eyeries NS Parents’ Association and delivered by Anne O’Carroll of Cascade Training Consultancy, this jargon-free presentation gives practical tips on how to make a will, what happens if you don’t and how best to provide for your loved ones, avail of tax breaks and ensure peace of mind. This event is a fund-raiser for the school and is open to all, but parents of young children or other dependents are particularly encouraged to attend. There will be a Question & Answer session afterwards and handouts will be provided.
